THE CHINO VALLEY GRINDER:
106 MILE GRAVEL ULTRA ENDURANCE CYCLING EVENT

The course will be a 106 mile-long out and back from Chino, Arizona to Williams, Arizona and back through the upper Verde Watershed of the Prescott and Kaibab National Forests. There is approximately a 60/40 split between gravel and paved roads. Expect little to no motor vehicle traffic. Conditions of the gravel roads can vary from hard-pack, to rutted or washboard depending on the last time the roads were graded. Elevations along the course vary from 4000 ft to 7500 ft. At the lowest point of the course average high temps are in the mid 70’s for this time of the year.

106 MILE ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Start from Old Home Manor Park, Chino Valley 2 miles east of Highway 89 on the corner of Perkinsville Road and Old Home Manor Road. Continue on Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 for 30 miles. Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 becomes Coconino County Road 73, proceed 23 miles to the turnaround at Elk Ridge Ski Area. Return to Chino following the same route.  There are cut-offs.

Aid stations at miles 21, 53, 85.  Cold beer at the finish.

***Two person relay will use the full 106 mile course with rider exchange at the Elk Ridge Ski Area (Williams, AZ).

42 MILE ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Start from Old Home Manor Park, Chino Valley 2 miles east of Highway 89 on the corner of Perkinsville Road and Old Home Manor Road. Continue on Perkinsville Road Yavapai County Road 70 for 21 miles. Turnaround is at Aid Station 1

Aid Station: at mile 21, after the Verde River bridge on the west side of the road.  Stocked with water, ice and goodies.
